The Look For Less

“It was $0.99!”
Note the reference to Macklemore’s song, Thrift Shop, from 4 years ago. Wow, was 2013 really 4 years ago?!
Anyways, I am the queen of thrift shopping… literally. I got it from my mama… and my Nana who are also queens of the bargain hunt.
However, I have been known to come across the best brand name finds. Like today, for example, I was eager to get out and enjoy the sunshine – Philly’s weather today was 70 degrees and sunny in February! – so I headed over to Ardmore to check out a new used clothes store called “Clothes Mentor.” Apparently, it is owned by Plato’s Closet – but is known to carry more sophisticated brands like J.Crew, Banana Republic, etc.
Considering my wardrobe this winter has consisted of mostly black, gray, maroon and olive green – I went in looking for brighter pieces for spring. I snagged a bright yellow OVI brand v-neck chiffon tank for $6, and a crisp white TOBI shift dress for $8 – such a steal.
After that, I was feeling motivated to check out my other favorite thrift shop in the area. There I spotted a pair of Tory Burch pink jelly sandals for $15 – and in EUC. Next, I spotted a black nylon Kate Spade bag with leather straps – for $30. This will come in handy as a carry on bag for my upcoming trip to Florida in March. It has several zip-close pockets, which I love. Nothing is worse than having a tote-style bag with no pockets and everything lands in the bottom. Maybe it’s the OCD in me, but I love keeping organized, even my purse! See instagram for photo.
