Let's Get Personal: Who is babblesandbliss?

A fellow blogger recently nominated me for a Q&A (Thank you, Melody!), and I felt like this would be the perfect opportunity for me to sit down with my readers so they can get to know me a little better... so here goes:

babblesandbliss - Lifestyle Blog

1. What inspired you to start blogging?

I oftentimes find myself in conversation making recommendations to friends and family on what new recipe they should try, where to get the best deals for style on a budget, or which city they should visit next and where to eat.  I figured a blog would be the perfect outlet for relaying all of those tips, so with that, babblesandbliss was created.  Essentially, it is a compilation of things I love to talk about.

2. Where is your favorite place to eat in your city?

I recently moved from Philadelphia to Charlotte, so I will give two recommendations, both pizza places!  In Philadelphia, my favorite restaurant is Bufad Pizza – it is located on Spring Garden Street and has the most delicious napoletana pizza and is BYOB.  Naturally, I had to find a place in Charlotte similar to Bufad – and so I found Inizio Pizza.  It is located in the Dilworth section of the city.  While Bufad has a more traditional restaurant vibe, Inizio is much more contemporary with its seat yourself, laid back atmosphere.  Also – apparently BYOB isn’t a thing in Charlotte, but rest assured, a bottle of the house wine at Inizio is only $25.

3. Where did you grow up and where do you live now?

I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia in the small town of Jenkintown, PA.  I attended college in Philadelphia, and then I lived in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia for a year after graduating college.  Now after 23 years of living in Philly, I decided to step outside my comfort zone and relocate to Charlotte.

4. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Ever since I was younger, I dreamt of settling down in a small coastal town outside of Charleston, South Carolina – Thank you, Nicholas Sparks for romanticizing the southern coast for me.  Now, although I still would love that, I’m really not sure where I want to settle down.  But before that, I plan to live the next six years of my twenties living in and experiencing new cities.  I have a goal to visit all 50 states by my 30th birthday… let’s see if I can make it happen.

5. What was your favorite hobby as a child?

As a child I loved cutting out pictures from magazines and making collages.  I would cover my notebooks, binders, and even bedroom walls with collages of inspirational words or cut outs of letters to make my own words.  I guess that’s where I started my love for quotes and motivational words – even in my apartment now, I have canvases hanging of some of my favorite quotes!  I also loved being in the kitchen – I have many great memories of hours spent baking with my aunt or cooking up Italian dinners with my dad.  I love the creativity that comes with combining a bunch of ingredients to create a delicious meal or dessert.

6. Where is your favorite place to shop?

If you’ve read any of my previous blog posts, you know that I love a good bargain, hence why my favorite stores are TJMaxx, Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack & Target.  I find it exciting to sift through the racks to find a cute sweater and discover that yes, it’s only $24.99.  Even better, I like being able to afford quality brand items without the hefty price tag.

7. What is your favorite holiday or time of the year?

I must say I find something special about every season – I love the springtime with the fresh air, flowers and anticipation of summer – I love heading to the beach in the summer, enjoying a day at the lake or a summer road trip – I love crisp Autumn nights sitting by the fire or spending a day pumpkin picking – but what I love the most is Christmastime.  There is something so special about those days shortly after Thanksgiving up until the few days after New Years Day that make this time of year my favorite.  I truly believe in the magic of Christmas that puts a little pep in everyone’s step. It's a time of year when people are more giving – to their families, to their friends, and to those less fortunate.  It's also a time of year when people are reminded of the people they love as they gather to celebrate traditions.  And of course, it's a time of year for endless baking of Christmas treats and snuggling up with cozy PJs.  Now,  if that's not the most perfect time of year, then I don't know what is!

8. What are your goals as a blogger?

My goal as a blogger is to share tips that I have learned with others, and to, in turn, learn from others as I connect with other bloggers and readers with similar interests!

9.  When you're not blogging, what else do you like to do in your spare time?

Two of my favorite things are eating and shopping - so anything involving those.  I can most likely be found checking out a new thrift store on my way home from work, hunting sale racks for great deals at the local mall, perusing the aisles of Trader Joes, whipping up something for dinner in my kitchen, or if none of the above, I am probably out to happy hour with my friends.

10. What is something unique about you that others may not know?

I have a love for travel and have so far visited 8 countries: Spain, Morocco, The Netherlands, Portugal, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, and Canada.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better... I'd love to learn more about you!
