Best Breweries in Philly

After living in Charlotte and Denver, both craft brewery hubs, I came back to Philly in high hopes to find that cool, brewery vibe. I mean can you think of a better way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon other than stopping by a brewery for some craft beers and good company?! I was happy to find out that Philly is actually ramping up their brewery scene.  Here are some places I’ve been that you should definitely check out… Cheers!

If you’re looking for a brewery tour…

Head to Yards Brewery, located in Northern Liberties.  They recently (in the past year or so) moved to a new facility and are back better than ever.  I took a few tours here in their old facility, and let me tell you, their beers are top notch and the tour guides provide some quality comic relief.  I’d recommend stopping in for a tour, but be sure to book in advance!  Rumor has it their tours fill up quickly.

If you’re looking for outside seating…

Check out High Harvest Biergarten. Here you’ll find a low-key vibe with picnic tables and beers served out of a trailer.  They’re located in Frankford Ave in Northern Liberties and serve up beer sourced from Tired Hands Brewing on the Main Line in Ardmore.  I came here when they first opened in the Fall and it was the perfect vibe for a group just looking to catch up on a Sunday afternoon.

If you’re looking for inside and outside seating…

Look no further than Evil Genius Brewery located in Fishtown. They have an industrial-style indoor with brick walls and tons of seating, and their outdoor has cool murals and several picnic tables. Their claim to fame is their funny beer names named after movie quotes and the like. My favorite beer is their #Adulting guava IPA., but they have 10+ beers on tap.

If you’re looking for games…

Try out Love City Brewing in Spring Garden.  They have a bunch of boards games and a dart board with plenty of seating to gather with a group of friends.  Grab a couple of flights and a board game, and buckle down for the afternoon.  Also, don’t miss their rotating food truck in the back!

If you’re looking for a brewery in the suburbs…

Bike (or drive) over to Conshohocken Brewing Company, located on the Schuylkill River trail in Conshohocken.  Their taproom is small, but in nicer weather they open their outdoor back porch! Come here with a smaller group to make the most of it!

These are just a few of the craft breweries around Philly that I’ve been to and loved.  Next on my list I want to check out:  Saint Benjamin Brewing Company, Crime and Punishment Brewing Co, and Wissahickon Brewing Company.

Have you been to any of these breweries in Philly?! Which was your favorite?  Comment below to share.
